Help

readingConnect will endeavour to help you connect your computer to the student network in the study bedrooms. Our level of knowledge will depend on the computer and operating system software you choose to use.

readingConnect recommends using a PC running Microsoft Windows 2000/XP with a minimum of 256Mb of RAM (for full details see Service Charter). We may also be able to give some advice on Apple Macintosh and earlier versions of Microsoft Windows (98 and above).

You are responsible for making sure that your PC is suitably protected while connected to the student network, full details can be found in the Safeguard your PC document ( www.readingconnect.net/connecting/safeguard.htm). Although we cannot be responsible for any virus or PC problems, we will try to advise you how best to remove any risks that you may have.

readingConnect can be contacted:

  • 8.30 am - 7 pm Monday - Friday term time
  • 8.30 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday vacation time

The service can be contacted at www.readingconnect.net/help or by telephoning (0118) 378 4444, extension 4444 from a University telephone.
