Safeguarding your PC
To safeguard your PC and its contents from harm that can be inflicted from
the Internet,
you must keep your PC up-to-date with anti-virus and system software updates.
Failure to keep your PC up-to-date is a security issue for everyone
using the readingConnect network. Any security problems caused by your PC might
lead to its network connection being suspended.
To safeguard your PC you should
- Install all available updates for your operating system (eg Microsoft Windows) regularly
- Install anti-virus software and keep it up-to-date. Anti-virus software is
available free from the University while
you are a student
- Install Firewall software
Full details about all aspects of security of personal PCs can be found in
the web document
