Connecting your Apple Mac OS X to readingConnect

To join readingConnect.net you will need a computer and an Ethernet network card. The majority of the newer Apple Macs will have built-in Ethernet cards but it is advisable to check beforehand.

The following instructions will guide you through the configuration of your Mac.

NB: If you have any specific settings already set up, please make a note of them before continuing.

  1. Go to the Apple Menu icon , then press [System Preferences] as shown below.

  1. Select the [Network] button

 

  1. Fill in the settings as shown on the picture below.

How to check your Internet Explorer settings

You must do this before you can access the Internet. There are two places where you must check the Proxy Settings.

  1. Click on the [Proxies] tab.

  1. Make sure all boxes in here are blank as shown above
  2. Now click on the [Save] button.

The second place you must check is in  the Internet Explorer preferences.

Go to the Internet Explorer menu, then choose [Preferences].

 

  1. Click the [Networks] tab on the right, then on [Proxies]

  2. Make sure everything in here is blank and there are no ticks in any of the boxes.

  3. Click the [OK] button

You should now be able to browse the Internet.
