New Television Service Trial
We are in the process of
considering a new television service to the halls of residence and would like
you to participate in a trial.
The future service and this
trial are both free of charge!
You will need:
1. A Computer with an
internet connection
2. To be living in a
University of Reading hall of residence
To receive live TV you need a
TV licence.

Below are the questions that we would like you to answer, we will remind you of
these in two weeks.
1. What operating system
did you use?
2. Was the picture quality acceptable? (If “no” please explain below)
3. Was the reliability acceptable? (If “no” please explain below)
4. Was the sound quality acceptable? (If “no” please explain below)
5. Was the overall quality of service acceptable? (If “no” please explain
below)
6. Was the quality the same for all channels? (If “no” please explain below)
7. Did you find it easy to set up? (If “no” please explain below)
8. How often would you use this service?
9. Do you like having this service available?
10. Do you view this as added value to your residency?
11. Would you like to have available extra options for “pay to view” or
additional subscription channels?
Please note that the service
is not supported through NAT routers; however Linksys routers will work with
'multicast passthrough' enabled.

It is essential that you
have up-to-date Anti-Virus software installed on your PC and that any
security updates, such as those for Microsoft Windows, have been applied.
Anti-Virus software is
available free of charge to members of the University of Reading. For
further details, please visit the
PC Security website
NB - updates for version 6
of Sophos Antivirus Software ceased to be issued on 31st May 2008. Users of
this version need to upgrade to the latest version to receive continued
protection against new viruses.
